Kelly Avis, Board Member, Vice President
Sometimes God speaks to you in a whisper….other times he knocks you over with clarity. That was my experience the first time I met Hannah’s Haven when they came to our church. I felt God drawing me to these precious women and this ministry of redemption. I enjoy serving as a volunteer and have recently joined the Board of Directors.
I grew up in Rockingham County and graduated from UNCG. I married my college sweetheart, Chris, in 1987. We have five children and two grandchildren. I have worked as a high school English teacher, an office manager, a greenhouse grower, a foster mom and a full-time mom.
Bonnie grew up in a poor, dysfunctional family in North Carolina. Her father was an alcoholic and abusive. She is one of four children and fell in love with softball at an early age. Sports were her outlet and she went to college on a softball scholarship but only stayed one year. Walking in defeat and under generational curses she started using crack cocaine when her married failed. She had two young children and her life went downhill until she was unemployable and homeless. Bonnie was saved but not free. She went to rehab and moved away from the people, places, things and all the excuses she used to keep her in bondage. In 1993 she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ and has been walking a life surrendering to Him. In 1994 God spoke clearly to Bonnie and told her to open a home for women to help them get off of drugs. By God’s grace Hannah’s Haven, A Teen Challenge Center received their first woman in 2006 and began teaching women how to come to know the love of Jesus Christ and the plan that He has for them which is not a plan to harm them but a plan to prosper them. Hannah’s Haven is a non-profit ministry and is funded totally in faith by individual contributions. Bonnie is a member of Grace Community Church in Greensboro and has led many people to freedom through Jesus Christ through her testimony, community outreach and obedience to follow God no matter what.
I am a North Carolina native and have lived in Greensboro for the past 37 years.
I am married to the love of my life, have 2 wonderful daughters, a great son-in-law, and have been blessed with 2 granddaughters. I spent 26 years in the banking/financial industry and have worked with non-profit accounting for the past 29 years. It has been an honor to serve on the Board of Hannah’s Haven. Since 2006 I have had the privilege to witness how God uses Hannah’s Haven to assist him in the restoration of lives and relationships.
I am a North Carolina native, and grew up in Mayodan, N.C. I currently live in Brown Summit. I am married to the most amazing husband whom I married in 2000. We do not have children, but we have dogs which are like our kids!
I was introduced to Hannah’s Haven by a wonderful friend who was and still is involved with HH. She encouraged me to come to prayer group to meet the girls. My heart was so touched by what I felt there, and I could feel God saying to me “You Need To Be Involved” here. Shortly after, I began visiting, going to prayer group and bringing lunch over to the girls.
I am a member of Lawndale Baptist, and have been involved with the Shepherds Pantry, Women’s Bible Study. I currently attend BSF –Bible Study Fellowship and in my 10th year. I love the Lord with all my heart, and believe we are put here on this temporary earth to love on people and serve others, NOT be served.
I am currently an artist, and travel with my husband quite often. My background was in Marketing for 10 years, and then I went back to school and became an Esthestican and Massage Therapist for 9 years.

I am a Greensboro native, with a loving husband in whom I married in 2004 and we have three precious children who keep us more than busy! I felt the Lord speaking to me to get involved with Hannah’s Haven a few years ago, and every time I would watch the ladies do one of their dances, I felt a stronger tug, but I was hesitant to step out and do anything about it. At the Grace Women’s Retreat in 2013, a dear friend who knew the desires of my heart, introduced me to Bonnie Harris. From then on, I began to bring meals to the ladies, and fellowship with them. It was pure joy to be in their presence, and thus in the presence of the Lord. In the Spring of 2013, I joined the Board of Hannah’s Haven, and the Lord has continued to show His love in so many ways through all the residents, graduates, staff and volunteers that I encounter with Hannah’s Haven. I am so excited to see how He uses this ministry now and in the future, to further His Kingdom.

I love Jesus and I love Hannah’s Haven. I was introduced to Hannah’s Haven in 2014 and God has blessed me tremendously by allowing me to have a relationship with them. One of my favorite things to do is morning devotions with the ladies.
I am married to Wayne Troxler and live in Browns Summit. We have two daughters / two sons-in-law, and three perfect grandbabies. We have a family farm and I love being able to employ Hannah’s Haven ladies when they enter Phase II.
I am so excited to be on the Board of Directors and am thankful that the Lord provided this opportunity for me.
Heather joined the board of Hannah’s Haven in April 2015. She brings years of experience in Marketing from the corporate world. Heather was introduced to Hannah’s Haven while attending Grace Community Church. The passionate way the women spoke of their relationship with Christ inspired her. When approached to help out with Marketing at Hannah’s Haven, Heather knew she wanted to be a part of such an impassioned organization with a truly awesome mission.
Outside of Heather’s corporate work, she spends most of her time with her family. She met her husband, SirMawn, while attending graduate school at Syracuse University. They have 2 beautiful daughters who keep their lives full of activity. Heather is also a certified yoga instructor and enjoys running.
